The military-to-civilian recruiting firm RecruitMilitary will present a free hiring event for job seekers who have military backgrounds. 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center, 1500 Broadway. Welcome are veterans who already have civilian-work experience, men and women transitioning from active duty to civilian life, members of the National Guard and reserves and military spouses.

Poll workers wanted
King County Elections is looking for nearly 4,000 poll workers to work throughout the county on Nov. 4.
Poll workers work from 6 a.m. until closing, around 10 p.m., and are responsible for opening and closing the polls and issuing ballots to voters. Workers receive a three-hour, paid training before Election Day, and will earn around $125 for their service on Nov. 4.
Bilingual-speaking poll workers are especially needed to provide language assistance to Chinese voters with limited English proficiency.
