SAN FRANCISCO — Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) said fourth-quarter profit slipped 2 percent, and revenue grew 19 percent, as strong laptop sales helped offset falling printer and server orders.
The results were slightly ahead of Wall Street’s forecast. Palo Alto, Calif.-based HP last week announced preliminary results to reassure investors and shore up a sinking stock price.
The full results were released today after the market closed.
Net income was $2.1 billion, or 84 cents a share. Excluding one-time charges, profit was $1.03 a share.
