Notable regional hires and promotions.
Matthew Tunnell will join the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle as vice president and chief information officer Aug. 31.
Trunnell has worked in information-technology and life-sciences research in both academic and commercial environments in support of large-scale genomics research for more than 15 years. His responsibilities at Fred Hutchinson will include research informatics and enterprise-information technology. He will also lead efforts to acquire research funding, use IT in research to advance science and support administrative systems and processes.
Trunnell worked at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, where as chief information officer he covered all aspects of information technology and services. He will work with Fred Hutchinson’s partners that include the University of Washington School of Medicine, Seattle Children’s and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance to more efficiently move data between organizations.
Trunnell received his bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and his master of science degree from the University of Washington.

Law:Rachel Bowe has joined Lane Powell in Seattle as an attorney in the labor and employment-practice group.
