Esterline said today that it has agreed to purchase Racal Acoustics, a British company that makes military communications equipment, from British private equity group ECI Partners for about 115 million pounds ($170 million).

Robert W. Cremin, chief executive officer of Bellevue-based Esterline, a supplier for the aerospace and defense industries, said in a statement that Racal has about 200 workers in northwest London. He said the transaction “complements Esterline’s existing expertise in secure communications and other sophisticated equipment for combat troop support, and fits our stated strategy to seek out companies that expand our talent pool and capabilities.”

A conference call to discuss the acquisition will be webcast live at 8 a.m. Tuesday at www.esterline.com.
