Workers and management at Columbia Distributing in Kent agreed to a five-year contract after months of negotiations and a threat of a possible strike.

The company distributes more than 1,800 beverages including top beer brands such as Coors, Miller, Mac & Jack’s, Georgetown, Deschutes, Lagunitas, and Fremont Brewing.

About 360 drivers and warehouse employees, represented by Teamsters Local 174, ratified the contract on Saturday. Union representatives said the previous contract expired in February, and later talks stalled when the two sides couldn’t agree on job protections and health insurance benefits.

The union had threatened to strike before St. Patrick’s Day, a pivotal sales day for beer retailers, but workers never did go out.
