The F-35 made its European air show debut at Farnborough this week, and on Friday flew in the afternoon display for only the second time.
I’d missed seeing it on Tuesday when I was inside the Boeing Centennial pavilion for a reception. But all of us inside heard it as the space was suddenly enveloped by the most awesome sound. It was the moment when the Lockheed-Martin fighter stopped in the air above the runway, hovered for minutes, swiveling around as it did so.
On Friday, I made sure to catch it. The video shot on an iPhone 5 doesn’t do it justice, but it will give you some idea. It’s just amazing to see such a machine hovering in front of you.
