Seventy-five years ago: Deadly growing pains of Boeing’s iconic B-29

Only part of the tail assembly is visible on the four-motored bomber after it crashed into the Frye Packing Company plant at 2203 Airport Way and exploded shortly after noon today. Flames soon spread over a 100-foot area and were leaping more than 50 feet in the air. Firemen are shown fighting the flames, as frightened livestock stampede onto  the roof of the building.
