Want to learn more about skiing, meditation, dancing, even healthier eating? There’s a class for that.
The King County Library System offers a yearlong series called “Start to Fitness,” designed to help patrons get active. Classes, talks and demonstrations spread across all kinds of topics. All of them are free.
“We began with food and cooking as the foundation of healthy living, and are now focusing on fitness and health as the next step,” says Marsha Iverson, public relations specialist for the library system.

As part of the Start to Fitness, KCLS is accepting nonperishable healthy foods with an emphasis on those that are reduced in fat, sugar and sodium. The food will be distributed to local food banks and feeding programs.
