Rose Theatre: in Port Townsend: Because it’s a century-old restored gem, with a new jewel-box theater on the top floor, and makes for a great movie break on a weekend out of town. (235 Taylor St., Port Townsend;

Sundance Cinemas: Because the movies are thoughtfully chosen, the wineglasses fit in the cup holders, and doesn’t everyone need a kid-free evening now and then? (It’s 21-and-over. And yes, it’s a bit pricey, but the lounge is a treat.) (4500 Ninth Ave. N.E., Seattle;
