PULLMAN – Tia Presley and Lia Galdeira each scored 17 points on Friday night as Washington State beat No. 21 Colorado 70-60 in a Pac-12 women’s basketball game.

WSU (11-6 overall, 5-0 Pac-12) improved to 3-1 against ranked opponents this season and continues its best start in conference play since opening 5-0 as a member of the Northwest Women’s Basketball League in 1977-78.

The Cougars had a 60-50 lead on Dawnyelle Awa’s three-pointer with 6:18 to play before both teams went scoreless for two minutes.

Brittany Wilson’s three-pointer for Colorado ended the drought and sparked a 9-4 run that reduced the Cougars’ lead to 64-59 with 2:27 to play.

WSU stopped Colorado’s next three possessions as Presley and Galdeira each had steals and the Cougars made six of eight free throws in the final minute to close the game out.

Jen Reese led the Buffaloes (11-5, 1-4) with 15 points and Arielle Roberson chipped in with 13.

Gonzaga women defeat USF

SAN FRANCISCO – Haiden Palmer contributed 26 points and eight rebounds as the Gonzaga women beat San Francisco 68-40.

Sunny Greinacher added 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Zags (15-3, 5-1 West Coast Conference).

Gonzaga had a 51-30 rebounding advantage on the Dons (7-10, 2-4).

San Francisco made 26 turnovers.

Stanford romps

TUCSON, Ariz. – Chiney Ogwumike had her way inside, grabbing the rebound and scoring off her lone miss. Stanford’s perimeter shooters dropped in three-pointers seemingly from all over, making 14 in all.

Ogwumike had 24 points and 12 rebounds and No. 4 Stanford never gave Arizona a chance, rolling over the Wildcats 96-52.

Stanford (16-1, 5-0 Pac-12) shot 63 percent. Arizona (4-12, 0-5) has lost the last 23 times it has played the Cardinal.

Quinn Dornstauder scored 13 points to lead a balanced offense as the Sun Devils (15-2, 4-1) beat the Golden Bears (12-4, 4-1).

The game was tied at 38 with 12:13 left in the second half before Arizona State scored 11 of the next 13 points to take control.

At USC 81, Oregon St. 60

Cassie Harberts had 22 points to lead the Women of Troy (12-6, 5-1) past the Beavers (10-7, 2-3).

At UCLA 88, Oregon 83

Atonye Nyingifa scored 34 points to carry the Bruins (9-9, 3-3) to victory over the Ducks (9-7, 0-5).

UCLA shot 50.8 percent from the field.

Katelyn Loper scored 19 points for Oregon.
