Alaska Airlines will give the University of Washington $700,000 in cash and sponsorship benefits each of the next five years for the naming rights to Edmundson Pavilion.

The 84-year-old facility was officially renamed Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion on Thursday when the UW’s Board of Regents approved the deal with the airline.

“We are very pleased to grow this partnership with Alaska Airlines and proud to have their name attached to the arena at one of our most cherished icons,” UW athletic director Scott Woodward said in a release.

Washington will receive $400,000 annually in cash; $25,000 in travel benefits; 20 MVP Gold memberships valued at $5,000 to $10,000 each; and $175,000 in sponsorship opportunities.

Washington’s $5 million, 10-year naming rights deal with Bank of America expired last year.
