SAN DIEGO — Washington center Regina Rogers scored a career-high 26 points and had 10 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as San Diego State pulled away in the second half for a 63-51 victory Saturday at Viejas Arena.
The Huskies, who trailed 32-24 at halftime, struggled to get in an offensive rhythm against the lengthy and disruptive Aztecs.
“Give them credit, they are a good defensive team,” Washington coach Kevin McGruff said after his team fell to 3-2. “They really bring a lot of pressure. But for us it comes down to execution.”
Washington held Aztecs star Courtney Clements to 11 points, more than 11 below her average, and San Diego State shot just 36 percent. But UW couldn’t take advantage because it committed 25 turnovers.
