This is the 12th consecutive season Washington has qualified for the NCAA championships under Jim McLaughlin, whose NCAA tourney record at UW is 29-10.
“I think the same thing every year, we will get back in our routines and continue to prepare,” said McLaughlin. “The opportunities become greater in the tournament, and you’ve got to be ready for those. These girls have invested a lot, and they’re ready to invest more. We have to have our best preparation, the best fundamentals, the best energy; all those things contribute to us playing as well as we can.”
The Pac-12 led all conferences with nine tournament selections.
Alabama State (25-15) won the Southwestern Athletic Conference.
“I think Washington is fine; we took the girls to play against Washington State last year,” said Alabama State coach Penny Lucas-White. “I’ve seen the product Jim McLaughlin puts out on the court. But hey, we are going out to play. We are in it to win it.”
