BRANDON, Manitoba — The Seattle Thunderbirds won for losing last night, falling 3-2 in overtime to the Brandon Wheat Kings but gaining a point in the standings and moving into a first-place tie with Everett in the Western Hockey League’s U.S. Division. The T-Birds (20-8-0-1), however, have played three fewer games than the Silvertips.


Monych won the game for Brandon (15-10-5-1) with just 12 seconds left in the OT period.


Seattle roared back from a 2-0 deficit to force overtime. Tyler Metcalfe cut the Wheat Kings’ lead in half with a power-play goal at 15:28 of the second period, and Aaron Gagnon, with his team-leading 19th goal of the season, pulled the T-birds into a 2-2 tie at 6:10 of the third period.
