Sounders FC’s low-key offseason continued Friday as the team did not select any players in the second stage of the MLS re-entry draft.

Seattle, which also passed in the first stage of the draft last week, has yet to make a significant addition since the 2012 season ended.

“It hasn’t been hugely eventful yet,” said general manager Adrian Hanauer. “Obviously trading Jeff Parke to Philly was a big move for us, freed up some (salary) cap space and gave us a pretty good injection of allocation money.”

The Sounders did re-sign defenders Jhon Kennedy Hurtado and Patrick Ianni on Thursday, and Hanauer indicated similar moves could soon follow.

So what else is going on? There are ongoing scouting efforts around the world; technical director Chris Henderson has been looking at players in Europe. The Sounders will also hold their annual player combine this weekend in Las Vegas.

Elsewhere, Seattle has declined contract options on at least six players — Cordell Cato (although Cato is still in talks with the team about a possible 2013 return), O’Brian White (whose MLS rights will remain with the Sounders as he attempts a comeback from a blood-clot issue), Bryan Meredith, Michael Tetteh, Michael Seamon and Andrew Weber.

The latter two went unselected Friday in the re-entry draft and became free agents. Seattle retains the right of first refusal on the others within MLS.

Hanauer said the Sounders haven’t closed the door for any of the players whose options were declined.

“Those guys need games; they need to go play somewhere,” Hanauer said. “Even if a guy can fight for a deep spot on the rotation, it’s almost not fair to them. They need to go out and play.”
