Seattle's women's soccer team has 11 spots filled on its 20-player roster after Friday's NWSL college draft.
Reign FC drafted four players in the National Women’s Soccer League college draft Friday to take another step toward a complete roster.
With its No. 7 pick in the first round, Seattle drafted Penn State senior Christine Nairn, who had 17 goals and 12 assists last season, leading the Nittany Lions to the national-championship game.
Some projections around the league had Nairn, a playmaking midfielder, going in the first couple picks.
“I’m a huge MLS fan, so I’ve watched the Seattle Sounders and what they’ve done with that program,” Nairn said on a conference call, “and I cannot be more excited and more thrilled to be going to such a soccer-fanatic city.”

Reports have indicated that teams will be limited to four free-agent signings in the open market, meaning the league would assume some control over other acquisitions. Equalizersoccer.com reported that NWSL is planning to hold a supplemental draft.
A strict salary cap is expected as well. Seattle general manager Amy Carnell said last week that such guidelines would be designed to keep the league sustainable.
Reign FC season-ticket packages go on sale at 9 a.m. Thursday and the team’s home venue is expected to be announced before that.
