Major League Soccer released its full 2016 regular-season schedule on Thursday afternoon, and while the Seattle Sounders and Vancouver Whitecaps will open Cascadia Cup action on March 19 at CenturyLink Field, Seattle and the defending champion Portland Timbers don’t face off until July 17 at Providence Park.

Seattle has 14 games slated for national television, including the season-opener on Sunday, March 6 against Sporting Kansas City on Fox Sports 1. FS1 will also televise the lone Sounders-Timbers match at CenturyLink Field on August 21.

All three Sounders-Galaxy games will be shown on ESPN, with two of the matches being played at CenturyLink Field (July 9 and July 31) before the final meeting of the season at the StubHub Center on Sept. 25.

For the second straight year, Seattle will close the regular season with a home match against Real Salt Lake on Oct. 23.

Other notables: the Sounders will play their first-ever game at Orlando City on Aug. 7; the final four and 11 of the last 12 matches of the year are against Western Conference opponents; the easiest stretch of the schedule would appear to be the stretch from April 16 to May 21 sandwiched between home matches against the Union and Rapids; July is loaded, including two Galaxy games, trips to Toronto, Portland and Kansas City and a playoff rematch against Dallas.
