PORTLAND — The Everett Silvertips and Portland Winterhawks fought their way to a 2-2 overtime tie last night at the Rose Garden.


Two of Everett’s team leaders — captain Mitch Love and assistant captain Torrie Wheat — were responsible for the team’s scoring.


Wheat scored in the first period, with assists from Karel Hromas and Alex Leavitt, and Love tied the score with an unassisted goal 18 seconds into the third period.


Brian Woolger and Kevin Tipper scored for the Winterhawks. Portland’s Dustin Butler did a fine job in goal, stopping 31 shots.


Mike Wall made 32 saves for the Silvertips.


The Silvertips will next face the Spokane Chiefs at 7 p.m. tonight. The Chiefs dropped a 4-1 decision to Everett at the Everett Events Center on Wednesday.
