Kendall Kenyon had 14 points and nine rebounds to help Pacific (Stockton, Calif.) defeat Seattle University 71-70 in a women’s basketball game at the Connelly Center in the season opener for both teams.

The Tigers held a 36-26 lead at halftime, but Seattle University rallied behind the play of junior forwards Ashley Ward and Kacie Sowell, who scored 21 and 19 points, respectively.

Sowell, also had 11 rebounds for the Redhawks, who trailed 61-48 with just more than six minutes remaining before making a final push. But Seattle U. never did catch up.

Brenda Adhiambo added 11 points for Seattle U.

The game wasn’t a thing of beauty as Pacific had 28 turnovers and Seattle U. 27. There were 65 total free throws.
