The Seattle Thunderbirds allowed three goals in the first period and went on to lose their Western Hockey League semifinals playoff opener in Kelowna, B.C., 6-2 on Thursday night.
The Rockets and T-birds play Game 2 of the best-of-seven series Saturday night in Kelowna.
Damon Severson scored twice as the Rockets cruised. Severson added two assists, while Madison Bowey, Rourke Chartier, Cole Linaker and Ryan Olsen also scored for Kelowna.
Mathew Barzal and Alexander Delnov had a goal apiece for Seattle.
