The Carolina Panthers have been installed as three-point favorites against the Seattle Seahawks in the early Las Vegas line for Sunday's divisional playoff game in Charlotte.
The Carolina Panthers have been installed as three-point favorites against the Carolina Panthers in a divisional playoff game Sunday at Charlotte.
The game will mark just the third time in 10 playoff games for the Seahawks since 2012 that they will be underdogs (assuming the line doesn’t change drastically).
Seattle was last an underdog in the playoffs in the Super Bowl against Denver following the 2013 season when the Broncos were 2.5-point favorites. Seattle won that game 43-8.
Seattle was also a three-point underdog in a divisional playoff game at Atlanta, a contest won by the Falcons 30-28.
The Super Bowl last year between the Seahawks and Patriots was a pick-em.
Seattle was one of four road teams that won games last weekend, three of whom were favored to win.
But that’s not the case for next weekend’s games as all four home teams are favored to win with Arizona a 7-point favorite over Green Bay, New England five points over Kansas City and Denver seven over Pittsburgh.
Seattle was a five-point favorite at Minnesota Sunday but while the Seahawks won the game they did not cover the spread.
The spread is a turnabout from a year ago when the Seahawks and Panthers also met in a divisional playoff game in Seattle. The Seahawks were 13.5-point favorites for that game and just squeaked by the spread, winning 31-17.
