If you have Steve Smith, sit him this week. The Seahawks’ secondary locked up Smith with aggressive play at the line of scrimmage in a 16-12 victory at Carolina last October. Smith, the Panthers’ leading receiver last year, was targeted a season-high 13 times but caught only four passes, tied for his third-lowest total of the season. He also finished with just 40 yards, his second-lowest yardage total of the season. Seahawks cornerbacks Richard Sherman and Brandon Browner used their size to physically handle Smith (5 feet 9, 185 pounds), and Smith looked frustrated: He committed two penalties and spent much of the game in a wrestling match.
