Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson has written a letter to Denver QB Peyton Manning thanking him for being an inspiration.

On the same night one of Russell Wilson’s most beloved Seahawks teammates retired — running back Marshawn Lynch — one of his heroes apparently played his final game: Denver QB Peyton Manning.

Wilson penned a letter for “The Players’ Tribune” thanking Manning for being an inspiration, specifically citing his experience at one of Manning’s camps.

Wilson wrote:

“There’s one moment I won’t forget.

Marshawn Lynch retires

 

10th grade. Louisiana. At your quarterback camp.

You inspired the kid in the green shirt.

You inspired me to work hard. To be disciplined. To be respectful. To take notes.

You inspired me to love the process. To love the sweat. To love the tears.

But most of all …

You inspired me to love the game.”
