Westchester, Calif., knocked off Puget Sound 15-0 Wednesday at the 14-year-old Babe Ruth World Series in Moses Lake.

Puget Sound (1-3) was eliminated from the tournament.

Right fielder Sean Kearney was Puget Sound’s player of the game and had one of two hits by his team. First baseman Nathan Fitzpatrick had the other hit.

Westchester netted 13 hits.

Shane Prante of Tom’s Golf Center in Olympia won the Northwest Open Invitational at Wine Valley Golf Club thanks to a bogey-free final-round 67 to post 14 under par and win by six shots over Corey Prugh of Spokane and amateur Matt Rawitzer of Bellingham. Prante took home $7,000.

Bjorn Bjorke of Port Orchard came from four strokes behind in the final round to capture the Washington State Men’s Mid-Amateur, and Seattle’s Leslie Folsom successfully defended her title in the state Women’s Mid-Amateur. The two stroke-play championships were held concurrently on the Rope Rider course at Suncadia Resort in Cle Elum.


• The Northwest University men’s and women’s teams lost their season openers Wednesday. Biola beat NU of Kirkland 2-1 in the men’s game and Biola won 3-1 in the women’s game. Tatyana Raveles and Mack Samuelsen scored goals.
