AUBURN — Stopshoppingdebbie was uncharacteristically unsettled before the start of Sunday’s $50,000 Boeing Handicap, nearly unseating jockey Rocco Bowen when she reared up at the starting gate.
But once the gates opened she was her normal self, taking the early lead and then pulling away when challenged at the top of the stretch to push her career record to 8 for 8.
The 4-year-old filly has the longest unbeaten streak of any undefeated horse in the country and she extended it in style, winning by 2¾ lengths and running the mile in a stakes record 1 minute, 34.2 seconds.
She ran the final quarter-mile in a very quick 23.18 seconds.

Stopshoppingdebbie’s stablemates in trainer Tom Wenzel’s barn, Goin to the Window and Blueberry Smoothie, finished second and third. Madame Pele was last in the four-horse field.
“The gate was a little issue today and she tried to buck me off, but she’s so good, it didn’t matter,” Bowen said. “At the quarter-pole, I said ‘Let’s go mama’ and she just took off. She’s so versatile. She can win on the lead or off the pace. Nothing takes her off her game.”
Bowen said he let out more notch in this race, but, “I still haven’t let them all out yet. The winning streak means a lot. … I’m just going to try to do my part to keep it going.”
Said Wenzel: “Today she ran each of her last 2 furlongs in 11 seconds and change. It’s tough to catch a horse that finishes like that.”
Jockey Juan Gutierrez thought he was in a good spot on Goin to the Window, rallying from third and moving right up to Stopshoppingdebbie in the far turn.
“What can you say?,” Gutierrez said. “The winner is a super filly.”
