In a field full of proven stakes horses, Scat Daddybaby showed Sunday he might become one.

In one of the better allowance fields in years at Emerald Downs, the 4-year-old gelding went straight to the lead in the $21,000 race and was never really threatened during his 2¼-length win in the 6-furlong race.

With Gallyn Mitchell aboard, the final time was 1 minute, 8.20 seconds.

Scat Daddybaby paid $19.40 to win.
