Rf Pistol Pete was an impressive winner here in his last start. Fly Just Fly won 10 days ago in her first race after a 9½-month layoff. Hannibal Lector, an 11-year-old gelding, has been first or second in 36 of 73 career starts.
Whiskeyonthehouse was overmatched against winners in his last race, but should be tough with a shorter distance and a return to the maiden ranks. Chevron Flying finished third in his career debut last month despite getting off to a bad start. Tichit was decent last year as a 2-year-old but hasn’t shown much this year.
First Last Chance was running in stakes races here last year and now drops to the bottom class level. Spending finally won in his 10th career start, and he looked good doing it. Crescent Bar will be heavily bet, but he was a disappointing third in his last race as the 11-10 favorite.
Grab Ahold was third as the 13-10 favorite in his career debut two weeks ago and can take a step forward today. Liberty Lake has been in the money in seven of 11 career starts. Lady Rosberg makes her career debut for trainer Tom Wenzel, who has a great record with first-time starters.
SCRATCHED: Havin a Good Day.
Touch the Sun drops in class to the level he won at two races ago. Dare Me Devil rarely runs a bad race. Wasserman will be rallying late.
SCRATCHED: Memphis Beach, Taylors Deal.
Kooky Saluki has been racing in stakes races so this is a big drop in class. I Keep Saying has finished first in three straight races. Belt is a 3-year-old taking on some tough older horses, but he has enough talent to be competitive against this group.
Polish Dollar has a great record at this distance and loves to win. Rocky’s Quest also has a great chance. Camp Granada will likely be leading early.
SCRATCHED: Ms P K Blue.
Cielator hasn’t raced since September but this lightly raced mare is talented and her trainer, Junior Coffey, is good with horses coming off long layoffs. Give her a slight nod in a very competitive field. Royal Moses has finished second eight times in 14 career starts. Perfect Pie rarely finishes out of the money.
Jo B With Thee has finished second twice at this distance and has a good shot if she doesn’t get into a speed duel in a race loaded with early speed. On Line Sweetie is still a maiden after 23 starts, but she will be rallying late. Supersymmetry might improve in her second try at this distance.
BEST BET: Touch the Sun.
