First race: 2 p.m.

1 6 furlongs, purse $8,925, 3-year-olds and up, maiden claiming weight for age $12,500/$10,000
PP Horse Jockey Line Wt.
4 Bull Whiskey R Richard 3 124
3 Square Jimmer E Kubinova 5/2 118
5 Its Guiness Time J Gutierrez 2 118
1 Nitro Road J Zunino 7/2 122
2 Troop Ship L Camacho-Flores 6 118

Bull Whiskey runs for a claiming price for the first time after finishing second and third in maiden allowance races in Portland. Square Jimmer was claimed for $12,500 three races ago at Golden Gate in Northern California and fits well against this group. Its Guiness Time has little early speed, which is an issue, but he can rally late to get into the trifecta.

2 51/2 furlongs, purse $5,500, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, maiden claiming $5,000
PP Horse Jockey Line Wt.
1 Nobluffjustgo R Bowen 5/2 123
6 Angel of Harlan L Mawing 2 123
3 Hope for Sara E Kubinova 3 117
2 Aliciasfirecracker R Richard 4 123
4 Step and One Half F Valdez 15 123
5 Niftys Tee Time R Camacho 8 123

Nobluffjustgo was fifth as the 2-1 favorite in a similar race two weeks ago and think he will rebound. Angel of Harlan beat the top pick in his last race, losing by just a head, and it was 3½ lengths back to the third-place horse. Hope for Sara was fourth in that race.

3 6 furlongs, purse $5,900, 3-year-olds and up, WCL $4,000
PP Horse Jockey Line Wt.
1 Jade Road J Gutierrez 3 121
6 Epic Electorate L Mawing 5/2 121
4 Doctor Bruce S. J Zunino 7/2 121
2 Foolish Chopper F Valdez 6 121
3 Barton Hill A Sanguinetti 4 121
5 Priceless Keith E Kubinova 9/2 124

Jade Road takes a big drop in class after being well beaten two weeks ago, but should do much better against this group. Epic Electorate makes his Emerald debut after losing by a head in his last race, at Golden Gate. Dr. Bruce S. was ready last year in his first race after a winter break, and this is his first race this year after a long break.

4 51/2 furlongs, purse $5,400, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, WCL $2,500
PP Horse Jockey Line Wt.
9 Wedge of Gold G Mitchell 7/2 123
7 Pete’s Glory Girl E Kubinova 10 123
2 Seattle Game R Bowen 2 123
1 Bartab J Matias 12 123
3 Snuffin L Camacho-Flores 12 123
4 Celestial Council F Valdez 8 123
5 Premo Jewel R Richard 12 123
6 Sydney On My Mind J Rosales 15 123
8 She’sontopyodeling J Gutierrez 12 123
10 Ms Eagle Eye I Enriquez 6 123

Wedge of Gold rarely runs a bad race and should be right there at the end if she’s ready in her first race since August. Pete’s Glory Girl crossed the finish first in her yearly debut last year and is making her 2014 debut. Seattle Game has won 13 times at Emerald and is always a threat to lead from gate to wire.

5 51/2 furlongs, purse $17,850, 3-year-olds and up, maiden special weight
PP Horse Jockey Line Wt.
8 Trick Or Retreat L Mawing 7/2 118
7 Mebossman I Enriquez 5/2 118
4 Royal Tale R Richard 3 118
1 No Claim Will Do J Gutierrez 10 118
2 Kamaaina Blue R Bowen 6 118
3 Ancient Mystery E Kubinova 10 118
5 Calculated Chaos A Sanguinetti 12 124
6 St Nicholas Becky G Mitchell 15 118
9 Brilliant Thought F Valdez 10 118

Trick Or Retreat started very slowly in his last race, which spoiled his chances, but he can rebound today. Mebossman was in the money in three stakes races last year, including a second-place finish in the Gottstein Futurity, the top race at Emerald for 2-year-olds. Royal Tale finished ahead of the top pick in his last race.

6 51/2 furlongs, purse $5,400, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $2,500
PP Horse Jockey Line Wt.
3 Kinzie’s King L Mawing 4 124
5 One Lucky Hoss P Fernandez 7/2 124
1 Boundtogetbusy E Kubinova 3 124
2 Our Marshal Cahill L Camacho-Flores 10 124
4 Stroll for Us I Enriquez 2 124
6 Harbor Wind J Whitaker 10 124
7 Wild Hoss J Zunino 12 124

Kinzie’s King has been first or second in eight of 14 starts at Emerald and has performed well coming off layoffs in the past. One Lucky Hoss was second two weeks ago at 11-1 and has been first or second in 11 of 26 starts at Emerald. Boundtogetbusy was a place behind the second pick in his last race after being bet down to 5-2.

7 51/2 furlongs, purse $14,375, 3-year-old, fillies, claiming $25,000/$22,500
PP Horse Jockey Line Wt.
5 Knight Club I Enriquez 3 118
4 See My Tail Lites E Kubinova 2 118
1 Polly Ester Pompom L Mawing 5/2 118
2 K K’s Wonderwoman J Gutierrez 7/2 118
3 Zafari Nation F Valdez 8 118

Knight Club has worked out well for her 3-year-old debut and scratched out of a race Saturday to run in this one. See My Tail Lites could improve with the drop in class. Polly Ester Pompom isn’t without hope.

8 6 furlongs, purse $12,700, 3-year-olds and up, WCL $15,000
PP Horse Jockey Line Wt.
1 King of the Sky R Bowen 5/2 122
2 Edge Forward I Enriquez 3 120
4 Assessment G Mitchell 6 120
3 Southern Solution J Matias 4 120
5 Financial Officer J Whitaker 12 120
6 Credit Line E Kubinova 6 120
7 Rainier Ice L Mawing 9/2 120

King of the Sky has been in good form at Turf Paradise in Phoenix. Edge Forward is usually close but he hasn’t won in a couple of years. The sentimental pick is Assessment, the 10-year who won the 2009 Longacres Mile and has won more than a half-million dollars.

9 6 furlongs, purse $17,950, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, claiming $32,000/$25,000
PP Horse Jockey Line Wt.
3 River of Aces E Kubinova 5/2 119
5 Stephanie Plum L Camacho-Flores 9/2 115
4 Perfect Pie J Whitaker 10 115
1 Lasting Rose A Sanguinetti 8 115
2 Tabled With Gold G Mitchell 5 115
6 Miss Communication R Bowen 4 119
7 Smokin’ Grey L Mawing 3 119

River of Aces has a great chance to do what she did two weeks ago, lead from gate to wire. Stephanie Plum finished a half-length behind the top pick in that race. Perfect Pie is better then her last race indicates.

10 51/2 furlongs, purse $6,725, 3-year-old, maiden claiming $7,500
PP Horse Jockey Line Wt.
7 Major Incident R Richard 10 122
3 Sunshine in Rio I Enriquez 2 122
4 Spit and Shine J Zunino 5/2 122
1 Little Abe J Rosales 4 122
2 Freedom House J Gutierrez 6 122
5 Miners Night R Bowen 8 122
6 Drop Volley F Valdez 8 122

Major Incident lost all chance at the break in his last race, and you can throw that race out. He could surprise. Sunshine in Rio was third in that race as the 6-5 favorite, nearly 4 lengths behind Spit and Shine, who was 20-1.

BEST BET: Knight Club.
