Saturday

First race: 1 p.m.

1 51/2 furlongs, purse $7,450, 3-year-old, fillies, claiming $7,500
PP Horse Jockey Line Wt.
3 Miss Fast Eddie R Bowen 5/2 121
2 Mz Dyno L Mawing 7/2 118
5 Tricky Person E Kubinova 2 118
1 Alta’s Forever L Camacho-Flores 5 118
4 Reflective Glory A Sanguinetti 3 121

Miss Fast Eddie can roll by the early-speed horses in the stretch. Mz Dyno finished right behind the top pick in her last race. Tricky Person crushed maidens in December and could win this race with a repeat performance.

2 5 furlongs, purse $5,800, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, claiming $4,000
PP Horse Jockey Line Wt.
5 Wind a Flyin J Rosales 7/2 120
2 Promiscuous Harbor I Enriquez 8/5 120
6 Appealing Artie R Richard 3 123
1 Parker’s Prospect G Mitchell 8 114
3 Hollywood Holly A Sanguinetti 10 120
4 Milieux F Valdez 5 120

This is a tough race to handicap. There should be quite a fight for the early lead, so maybe Wind a Flyin will take back early, then rally late like she did in her career debut last year. Promiscuous Harbor will be tough if she’s ready coming off a long layoff. Appealing Artie was a suprise winner a couple of weeks ago, and a repeat effort would put her in the hunt at the end.

3 5 furlongs, purse $6,725, 3-year-old, maiden claiming $7,500
PP Horse Jockey Line Wt.
5 The Bainster I Enriquez 7/5 122
4 Alaazwho R Richard 7/2 122
3 Our Sella A Sanguinetti 4 122
1 Onetimeforolmark J Zunino 15 122
2 Regazze Cat L Mawing 10 122
6 Sorry Pal R Bowen 10 122
7 Debauch L Camacho-Flores 9/2 122

The Bainster was second as the 9-10 favorite last month and will likely be heavily favored again. Alaazwho has been working out well for his debut, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he won. Our Sella has some early speed and can hang on for third.

4 61/2 furlongs, purse $5,700, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, claiming $3,500
PP Horse Jockey Line Wt.
2 Ms Eagle Eye I Enriquez 9/2 123
5 Seattle Game R Bowen 9/5 123
4 Grand Baylee E Kubinova 3/1 123
1 Port Wakefield J Whitaker 6 123
3 Montelena R Richard 5/2 123

SCRATCHED: Gotaminute

Ms Eagle Eye scratched out of a race Friday to run in this one and she won her first race of the season last year, so she should be ready off a long layoff. Seattle Game returns six days after winning her 13th career race at Emerald, and with a new style, coming from off the pace. Grand Baylee also has had great success at Emerald.

5 61/2 furlongs, purse $5,400, 3-year-olds and up, claiming $2,500
PP Horse Jockey Line Wt.
4 Sharp Focus J Gutierrez 5/2 124
7 Vegas Burn R Bowen 8/5 124
6 Immigration J Whitaker 6 124
1 Wild Hoss J Zunino 10 124
2 Flying Jack P Fernandez 20 124
3 High Silence L Camacho-Flores 15 124
5 Showmethemoneyjim R Richard 7/2 124

Sharp Focus didn’t seem to like the sloppy surface in his last race. Expect a much better performance if the track is fast Saturday. Vegas Burn looks for his third win of the meet, which began just three weeks ago. Immigration doesn’t win much, but the 10-year-old can still be competitive against this group.

6 51/2 furlongs, purse $11,025, 3-year-old, claiming $15,000
PP Horse Jockey Line Wt.
1 Moony Moony I Enriquez 2 119
6 Doc Duffy F Valdez 5/2 119
4 Wedgey Time J Gutierrez 3 122
2 Air Grinder L Camacho-Flores 12 119
3 Charlie’s Gold L Mawing 7/2 122
5 Twentyten R Richard 10 119

Moony Moony and Doc Duffy drop in class after poor efforts. Expect much better Saturday. Wedgey Time (like Charlie’s Gold) jumps up in class after an easy maiden win.

7 51/2 furlongs, purse $9,350, 3-year-olds and up, WCL $7,500
PP Horse Jockey Line Wt.
1 Surprise Sale I Enriquez 7/5 122
2 Hard Slider L Mawing 3 120
5 Big Bad Brown E Kubinova 5/2 120
3 Carl Command L Gonzalez 6 120
4 Southfork Pegasus F Valdez 8 120

Surprise Sale looks like he can handle the slight jump up in class after winning his last race and getting claimed. Hard Slider did nothing in Phoenix after being reclaimed by owners who had lost him, but returns to Emerald, where he has had good success. Big Bad Brown has won six times in 15 starts at Emerald.

8 51/2 furlongs, purse $18,900, 3-year-olds and up, AOC $25,000
PP Horse Jockey Line Wt.
1 Country Rules J Zunino 5/2 121
4 Belt R Bowen 2 124
2 Prayer for Da Bric I Enriquez 7/2 124
3 Perfect Night J Whitaker 5 121
5 Atta Boy Lucky L Camacho-Flores 5 124
6 So Legit J Gutierrez 8 121

Country Rules faced a really tough group in his last race but should do much better against this field. Belt is coming off a nice win. Prayer for Da Bric looked great in winning his Emerald debut.

9 51/2 furlongs, purse $5,300, 3-year-olds and up, fillies and mares, claiming $2,500
PP Horse Jockey Line Wt.
2 Opening Buzz F Valdez 9/2 119
5 Supreme Ballerina R Bowen 7/5 123
1 Kiss Em R Richard 7/2 119
3 B B’s Quick Action E Kubinova 12 119
4 Goin Out Tonite P Fernandez 8 119
6 Brats Brat L Camacho-Flores 10 119
7 Reliable Ema I Enriquez 6s 119

Opening Buzz can win if it’s a fast track. Supreme Ballerina will likely be heavily favored after a nice win. Kiss Em should improve in her second race after a 20-month layoff.

BEST BET: Country Rules.
