He hit 31 home runs in each of the previous two seasons before the record-setting year. This season, he has hit 16 homers in 36 games. Balentien is hitting .301 (53 for 219) with a 1.025 on-base plus slugging percentage. He’s a big star in Japan. Balentien played 130 MLB games for the Mariners in parts of three seasons, hitting .209 with 12 homers and 41 RBI. He struck out 122 times in 434 plate appearances.
