SPANAWAY — A hot start and some accurate free-throw shooting helped Spanaway Lake extend its girls basketball winning streak to seven games last night with a 57-40 South Puget Sound League South Division victory over Jefferson.


The Sentinels (7-0 overall, 5-0 league) charged to a 22-6 lead after one quarter and 36-15 at halftime.


Laura Olson led three Spanaway Lake players in double figures with 16 points. Jasmin Cooper had 11 points and six rebounds, and Ashley Stephen added 11 points and four blocked shots for Spanaway Lake.


Senior point guard Kalei Frank led Jefferson (4-3, 2-3) of Federal Way with 15 points.

Allyson Sievers scored a game-high 20 as the Falcons (5-1, 3-0) kept pace in SPSL North. Kentlake led 16-2 after the first quarter. Alyssa Smyres scored 10 to lead Auburn (1-4, 1-3).




Auburn Riverside 63, at Kent-Meridian 30


Julie Futch scored a game-high 23 as the Ravens (4-0, 4-0) stayed unbeaten with an SPSL North victory. Na’keta Preson scored 19 to lead Kent-Meridian (1-5, 0-4), which was outscored 27-13 in the third quarter.




Sumner 60, at Tahoma 53


Savannah Palomarez scored 17 points, and the Spartans (6-1, 3-1) used a 21-12 advantage in the first quarter to beat the Bears (0-5, 0-3) in SPSL North. Nicole Riess scored a game-high 22 for Tahoma.




At Enumclaw 54, Kentridge 44


Randi Francis led all scorers with 23 points to go with eight rebounds and four steals as the Hornets (1-4, 1-2) earned their first win of the season in SPSL North. Tia Hall scored 12 to lead Kentridge (3-3, 2-2).




At Curtis 58, Federal Way 32


Brittany Weaver and Darcy Holland of the Vikings (5-1, 4-1) outscored the Eagles (1-5, 0-5) by themselves, combining for 38 points in a South Division win. Weaver scored 20 and Holland 18. A 20-7 third-quarter run broke the game open for Curtis.




At Rogers 52, Decatur 6


The Rams (2-4, 2-3) held the Gators (0-6, 0-5) scoreless in the first and third quarters of a one-sided South Division game.




Emerald Ridge 44, at Puyallup 36


The Jaguars (4-2, 4-1) finished strong, outscoring the Vikings 19-11 in the fourth quarter of an SPSL South win. The game was tied through three quarters. Danika Lawson of Puyallup (3-4, 3-2) led all scorers with 14 points. Taryn Cartledge led Emerald Ridge with 12.




At Bethel 65, Beamer 30


Bethel grabbed a 22-6 first-quarter lead on the way to an SPSL South rout. Nadia Parker scored 18 for the Braves (5-0 overall and league) against the Titans (1-5, 0-5).
