Nothing seems to faze this sophomore, who calmly sank a late three-pointer with the shot clock winding down that helped lift the Irish past Shorecrest 73-69 and into the Class 3A state quarterfinals. Barnard made 5 of 10 three-pointers en route to a game-high 24 points. “He’s a big-time player,” coach Al Hairston said. “He’s done it for us all year.”

Mikayla Pivec, Lynnwood girls basketball

Pivec was pivotal as the top-ranked Royals powered their way past Bellarmine Prep 75-33 and into the Class 4A state quarterfinals. The 5-foot-10 sophomore connected on 11 of 16 shots and finished with 28 points, 17 rebounds, five assists and two blocked shots. “Mikayla Pivec was dominant in all aspects of her game,” Lynnwood coach Everett Edwards said.
