Jacob Hostetler, Ingraham boys track
It’s time for Hostetler to heat up as he approaches the close of his prep career, and he did just that in sweeping his three individual events at the Metro championships, recording his best-ever times along the way in the 100 (11.0), 200 (22.04) and 400 (49.81). “I’m very happy for Jacob because he has accomplished something not many sprinters can do and he has worked so hard year after year,” coach Kurt Spann said.
Chinne Okoronkwo, Mountlake Terrace girls track
The sophomore sensation sailed a career-best 40 feet, 6¼ inches to win the triple jump at the WesCo 3A championships and also had her top mark to date in capturing the long jump title (18-9 ¾). She added the pole vault title (11-6) to help the Hawks to their first team title. “Chinne has very high goals and continues to strive for them,” coach Russ Vincent said. “Above all, she has character and sportsmanship that is second to none.”
