SAN DIEGO — Ballard’s fantastic start continues.

Senior guard Evangeline Spracklin had a game-high 24 points, and the Beavers girls basketball team beat Eastlake of Chula Vista, Calif., 68-53 on Friday to move on to the championship game in the Surf Division of the Surf ‘N Slam tournament at Scripps Ranch High School.

Ballard (9-0), which led 34-29 at halftime, took control by outscoring Eastlake 20-7 in the third quarter.

Alexandria Lawrence, a 6-foot sophomore forward, had 15 points and 13 rebounds for the Beavers, eighth-ranked in Class 4A, and senior guard Kayla Williams scored 13.

Spracklin, who had 11 points in the first quarter, also had eight rebounds, three steals and two assists.

Ballard plays St. Mary’s of Berkeley, Calif., today at 1:45 p.m.

Senior Kristi Kingma, a Washington recruit, had 27 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists to lead the Timberwolves of Mill Creek (6-1) past the Roughriders (6-2) in a nonleague game. Frannie Hemmelgarn paced Roosevelt with 23 points.

At Lynden Christian 48, Kentwood 46

Kenzie DeBoer had a game-high 21 points and the 1A Lyncs held off the Conquerors, 4A’s fifth-ranked team. Kentwood (7-2) outscored the Lyncs 21-8 in the fourth quarter but came up short.

Candace Chambers had 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead the 8-1 Panthers, who are ranked seventh in 3A.

At Meadowdale 85, Bainbridge 67

Eryn Jones had 24 points, Anna Molitor had 18, and the sixth-ranked Mavericks of Lynnwood (7-1) beat the Spartans (6-3) in a nonleague game between 3A teams despite a game-high 27 points from Brittany Gray.

Bellevue 55, Sandpoint (Idaho) 45

At the Blackhawk Tournament in Cheney, the Wolverines (6-2), eighth-ranked in 3A, held on after leading 13-2 at the end of the first quarter.

Archbishop Murphy 49, Bethel 39

The Wildcats (5-2), led by Alyssa Smith’s 15 points, beat the Braves (7-3) to advance to the championship game of the Hornet Holiday Classic at White River High. Archbishop Murphy faces Inglemoor today at 5:15 p.m.

Inglemoor 73, White River 42

Sally Blackner had 18 points, shooting 5 of 6 from three-point range, and the Vikings rolled past the host Hornets and into the title game of the Hornet Holiday Classic.

Cascade 60, Gig Harbor 48

Danielle Love, a 6-1 sophomore, had 23 points, 17 rebounds and six assists as the Bruins of Everett (3-5) beat the Tides at the Hornet Holiday Classic.

Federal Way 63, Lynden 55

At the Santa Slam at Oak Harbor High, Talia Walton scored eight of her game-high 20 in the fourth quarter to help the Eagles (7-3) hold off the Lions.

Auburn Mountainview 46

Aly Stewart made a turnaround 8-footer with a second left to lift the Cougars (5-1) over the Lions (3-5) and into the championship game of the Santa Slam, where they will face Anacortes today at 8 p.m.

Cedarcrest 56, Toledo 39

Erica Taylor had 17 points as the Red Wolves (2-4) rolled into today’s championship game of the River Ridge Winter Challenge at St. Martin’s College in Lacey. They’ll play Olympia at 6 p.m.
