Still, there are plenty of good deals, from overnight stays at some of the top resorts to some great package deals at municipal courses.
Cutting costs can be as simple as doing a quick Web check. Many area courses offer online reservations at deep discounts and many others offer coupon specials and free birthday golf.
Buying the Oki Players Card can save players a lot of money who play that group’s line of 11 top-level courses (Washington National in Auburn, The Golf Club at Redmond Ridge and Harbour Pointe Golf Club in Mukilteo to name a few), and they have added a special twilight deal for Players Card members. At all courses except the Golf Club at Newcastle, prices are $25 starting at 5 p.m., $15 at 6, and $10 at 7 o’clock, with a cart included.

Looking for a getaway? Among the specials are the two-night Golfers Escape at Alderbrook Golf Club in Union on the Olympic Peninsula, an unlimited golf package at the two public Suncadia courses in Roslyn as well as special packages at Port Ludlow Golf Club and Semiahmoo in Blaine.
For players looking for instruction this summer, Brian Mogg’s golfing schools at Chambers Bay come with a certificate for free round at the University Place course that will host the 2015 U.S. Open. The 3 ½-hour schools are being held July 21-22, Aug. 18-19, and Sept. 8-9 and Sept. 22-23, and are $350.
Golfers can also save a lot by becoming members at public courses, or a group of courses like those operated by Ryan Moore Golf (The Classic in Spanaway, McCormick Woods in Port Orchard and Overbrook Country Club in Tacoma).

Dakota Creek Golf & Country Club (Custer): Golf all day Monday through Wednesday for $35 ($50 with cart).
Discovery Bay Golf Club (Port Townsend): Tee it up with a friend on Tuesday for $14 each.
Eagle’s Pride (Tacoma): $35 with shared cart and $8 food voucher.
Eaglemont (Mount Vernon): Four play for the price of three with online coupon
