If you’re lucky enough to have a ticket to the U.S. Open, a fleet of nearly 300 shuttle buses is preparing to help get you there.

And if you aren’t, you can still get a flavor of the event at a free tournament-watching “Open For All Fan Experience” the USGA is setting up at Seattle’s Lake Union Park.

Each day (including Monday-Wednesday practice rounds), shuttle buses depart beginning at 5:30 a.m. from two main park/ride locations:

Tour Chambers Bay

Take a tour of the links-style course using our 3-D flyover, including videos featuring U.S. Open Championship Director Danny Sink.

• The Red Lot, at the Washington State Fairgrounds in Puyallup, is intended for people coming from the north (including Seattle). From there, it’s an estimated half-hour ride to the golf course, depending on traffic .

• The Blue Lot, at Fort Steilacoom Park, is intended for spectators coming from the south. The ride to the course is expected to be about 25 minutes.

Highway signs will direct drivers to the two locations. The parking and bus ride are free. Spectators will clear security at the parking lots, streamlining the arrival process at the golf course.

In addition, passengers can be dropped off at Sunset Primary School on 97th Avenue West, about a 10-minute walk from the nearest Chambers Bay admission gate. No parking is available at the school and no vehicle larger than a 12-passenger van will be accommodated.

Fan experience

The South Lake Union event runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, from noon to 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and from noon to 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

The action will be shown on a big screen, the U.S. Open Championship Trophy will be on display, various exhibits will touch on aspects of the Open and concessions will include local beers.

Phone usage

Spectators may carry mobile devices smaller than 7 inches in length, including cellphones. Device volume controls must be set to silent or vibrate at all times. Phone calls must be received or placed only in designated “phone zones” located around the golf course. Texting and email are permissible, but cannot disrupt players.

Autographs

A no-autograph policy is in effect on the course and includes practice rounds as well as championship rounds.

Cameras

Stand-alone cameras may be brought and mobile-device camera features may be used, but only during practice rounds.

Tickets

Tickets to practice sessions at Chambers Bay remained available at press time for purchase from the USGA, starting at $50 a day. Tickets to the competition rounds are being offered for resale through online ticket services for prices higher than face value.
