Dustin Bremerman poured in a career-high 32 points to lead Seattle Pacific to a 95-79 win over Cal State Monterey Bay on Friday in the season opener for both teams at the Sodexho Tip-Off Classic at Brougham Pavilion.


Seattle Pacific concludes the tournament today versus Cal State San Bernardino, an 80-56 winner over Northwest Nazarene in the first game Friday.


Brian Lynch added 18 points and Chad Williams 16 for the Falcons, who won their home opener for the fourth year in a row.


The Otters (0-1), who stayed close until the final 10 minutes, were led by 30 points from Devoughn Lamont.


Seattle Pacific shot 65 percent in the second half (15 of 23) and 55 percent from the field overall. Lynch was 7 of 9, including 4 of 6 outside the arc.

The new-look Seattle University Redhawks opened the 2005-06 season with an 80-63 win over Regis University on the first day of the Elgin Baylor Tip-Off Classic at the Connolly Center.


In the first game of the tournament, defending NCAA Division II West Region champion Cal Poly Pomona edged Saint Martin’s 66-64. The Redhawks will meet Cal Poly Pomona at 7 tonight.


The Redhawks came out and showed off their new pressure defense by forcing 26 Regis turnovers — the most by a Seattle U. opponent since Nov. 27, 1999, when Dominican College of New York turned the ball over 27 times.


Bernard Seals led all scorers with 22 points and added two assists, three steals and four rebounds.

Western Washington 95, Emporia State 94


Forward Grant Dykstra had game-highs of 27 points and eight rebounds, leading nationally ranked Western Washington (1-0) to a win over Emporia State at the Brigham Young-Hawaii Seasider Classic in Laie, Hawaii. The Vikings meet host BYU-Hawaii today.


At Central Washington 107, Chico State 86


Robert Hicks scored 11 of his team-high 17 points in the first half as Central Washington opened its season with a 21-point win over Chico State in the second game of the Wildcat Classic at Nicholson Pavilion. In the tournament’s first game, Western Oregon defeated Grand Canyon 88-87.


At Puget Sound 78, Evergreen State 68


The University of Puget Sound fended off an Evergreen State rally in the second half in the opener for both schools. The Loggers were led by Ryan DeLong’s 16 points. Thomas Cook led Evergreen State with 25 points and 15 rebounds.
