BELLINGHAM — In the rematch between the area’s Division-II men’s basketball powerhouses, No. 2 Western Washington prevailed again. This time, the Vikings needed overtime and superior free-throw shooting.
Austin Bragg led WWU with 20 points and 11 rebounds in Saturday’s 83-76 overtime victory over No. 4 Seattle Pacific at the Vikings’ Carver Gymnasium.
WWU converted 23 of 26 shots from the stripe while the Falcons were 14 for 25.
SPU missed seven straight free throws at the end of regulation before freshman Alex Weber-Brader hit the second of two attempts with 3.5 seconds remaining to force the overtime.

WWU went ahead for good in overtime on two free throws from Cameron Severson and a baseline jumper from Rico Wilkins. That put the hosts up 76-72 with 3:33 remaining.
The Vikings converted five of six free throws in the final 2:27 to seal the win.
In regulation, the Falcons surged ahead 69-66 on a three-pointer by Riley Stockton with 1:18 to play. They missed opportunities to add to that margin as David Downs and Jobi Wall each missed a pair of free throws.
Two free throws from Severson cut the margin to 69-68 before Rico Wilkins gave WWU its first lead since midway through the second half. He made two free throws with 13.5 remaining for a 70-69 edge.
Downs scored 20 points to lead the Falcons.
