With Seattle being at the center of the volleyball universe right now, three-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings took time to answer questions from Seattle Times readers in a live chat Friday. Here are some of the highlights:
Question: Who is your favorite athlete in the Final Four? Does the competition compare to your Final Four days of Stanford and Long Beach State dominati
Walsh Jennings: Deme Morales (of Wisconsin) was so fun to watch last night. She was a little one surrounded by giants, but she played so big. Her setter was fantastic and the team chemistry was fantastic, as well. As far as the competition and how it compares to when I played, it’s hard to compare. The sport has come so far. I feel like the biggest difference is the physicality of every single athlete, and the parity, but we obviously had great teams and I feel like my Stanford Cardinal teams from those years could do well against these teams.

Walsh Jennings: London (in 2012), by far, because Misty (May-Treanor) and I reunited after a couple years off and a couple major life happenings. We were the most connected we’ve ever been and therefore we cherished every second in London. What put it over the top for me was winning the gold medal as a mommy.
Q: You’ve played both indoor and beach, do you like one more?
Walsh Jennings: Indoor will always be in my heart. It’s where all my dreams began. That being said, the lifestyle the beach game provides me is without question the best thing ever. I appreciate everything about the beach and wouldn’t trade my job for all the money in the world, and I’m grateful to my time in indoor for giving me a launching pad.
