PULLMAN — Arizona rallied in the second half to beat Washington State 71-65 Friday night in both teams’ Pac-12 opener.
Arizona (9-3, 1-0) shot nearly 52 percent in the second half and finished the game shooting just under 45 percent. The Cougars (4-8, 0-1) shot 33 percent from the field and finished with a season-high eight three-pointers.
WSU freshman guard Lia Galdeira had three treys and finished with a team-high 17 points. Carly Noyes had 14 points and nine rebounds, while Sage Romberg added 10 points and seven rebounds for WSU.
Alli Goyd had 19 points and eight rebounds for Arizona.

Atonye Nyingifa scored 18 points, leading five players in double figures, to help UCLA beat Oregon in the Pac-12 opener for both teams. Markel Walker had 10 points, 11 rebounds and six assists for UCLA (10-2, 1-0). Jillian Alleyne had 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Ducks (2-11, 0-1).
USC 56, at Oregon St. 55
Alexyz Vaioletama hit a buzzer-beating layup to lift USC over Oregon State. The victory snapped a six-game losing skid by the Trojans (4-8, 1-0), who got 27 points from Cassie Harberts. Jamie Weisner scored 27 for the Beavers (6-7, 0-1).
