BOULDER, Colo. – Askia Booker beat the buzzer with a 30-foot basket to give Colorado a 75-72 victory over sixth-ranked Kansas on Saturday.

Booker was gasping for air underneath a pile of court-storming Buffaloes fans after the school’s first victory over Kansas in the last 20 tries.

“Unless I’m in the NBA championship, that’s the only thing that could top that,” junior Booker said after Colorado improved to 9-1.

Booker and Spencer Dinwiddie led Colorado with 15 points each.

Freshman Andrew Wiggins led the Jayhawks (6-2) with 22 points.

“We’re not playing very good,” Kansas coach Bill Self said. “We’re not playing good at all. The pieces just aren’t quite fitting yet and we’re trying to find ourselves.”

Arizona wins

TUCSON, Ariz. – T.J. McConnell had 13 points, six assists and seven rebounds, and made important plays down the stretch to help second-ranked Arizona escape with a 63-58 victory over UNLV.

The Wildcats (9-0) might rise to No. 1 in the Associated Press media poll Monday, as No. 1 Michigan State and No. 3 Kentucky have lost since the last poll was released.

“I think it’s something we feel like we’ve earned,” Arizona coach Sean Miller said. “We know that being ranked number one doesn’t mean that we won the championship or the season’s now over, but I’m not going to play the negative card at all. … To be ranked number one is maybe the greatest compliment you can have.”

No. 18 UCLA fades

COLUMBIA, Mo. – Playing on an opponent’s home court for the first time, No. 18 UCLA lost 80-71 to Missouri and set a season low in points.

After making 15 of its 30 attempts in the first half, the Bruins (8-1) converted a mere 8 of 31 shots — including 0 for 8 from behind the arc — after the break.

“I think a couple guys, including myself, took some tough shots, which is not fair to our teammates,” UCLA’s Kyle Anderson said.

Jordan Adams scored 22 points and had 10 rebounds for the Bruins. Freshman Zach LaVine from Bothell High School had 13 points for UCLA, which led 30-17 with 6:47 left in the first half.

Jabari Brown scored 22 points for the Tigers (9-0).
