LYNDEN — Cedarcrest started and finished fast, claiming the school’s first trip to the state tournament in girls basketball with a 49-38 victory over Port Angeles in the Class 2A regionals Friday night.
The state tournament begins Thursday at the Yakima SunDome.
Susan Kenney scored 21 points and Kailyn Campbell had 14 for the sixth-ranked Red Wolves (22-3), who outscored Port Angeles 14-6 in the first quarter and 19-11 in the fourth.

At Tumwater, Jamika Parker scored 18 points and the second-ranked Bearcats (20-4) held the No. 7 Wildcats to nine points in the first half. Beth Carlson, a 6-2 senior, had 17 points, 14 rebounds, three assists and three steals in her final game for Archbishop Murphy (19-6).
King’s 47, Montesano 30
At Chehalis, Karly Hibbard had 13 points and eight rebounds and Daylee Hanson scored 12 points as the Knights (18-8) advanced to the state tournament in Yakima. King’s limited the Bulldogs to 12 points in the first half. Kendall Adams and Ashley Adams each had eight rebounds for the Knights.
Cascade Christian 57, Woodland 40
At Mount Vernon, the Cougars (21-1) from Puyallup raced to a 23-11 lead after one quarter and cruised to the quarterfinals. Kaycee Creech scored 17, Katie Rozumny 14 and Olivia Tuttle 11 for Cascade Christian.
Connell 40, University Prep 21
At West Valley High in Yakima, the cold-shooting Pumas’ season ended with a loss to Connell.
