SEATTLE — A 37-year-old Seattle man who kidnapped a woman and barricaded himself in his home in White Center this morning was arrested after a three-hour standoff with police.

The woman, who used a ruse of some sort to call police, escaped out the front door of the home soon after, and told police the man had threatened to kill her, said Seattle police spokesman Sean Whitcomb.

The SWAT team and a hostage-negotiation team were called after the man indicated he was unwilling to surrender to police, Whitcomb said.

The man gave himself up at about 7 a.m. and was booked into the King County Jail.

Whitcomb said the woman was “horribly frightened, but was not injured.”
