The death of a Tacoma police officer, Reginald “Jake” Gutierrez, who was shot while responding to a domestic-violence call, compelled many in the community to express their condolences on social media.
Gutierrez, 45, was killed while responding to a domestic-violence incident. The suspect was killed by police Thursday morning after an 11-hour standoff in which two children were used as human shields, authorities said. The children were unharmed in the confrontation.
