Human remains found last week in dense woods near Bastyr University in Kenmore were identified Tuesday as those of a Kenmore man who was reported missing more than six years ago, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office.
Brian Frank MacDonald, 46, was last seen when he dropped his daughter off at school on the morning of April 3, 2006, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Sgt. Cindi West. MacDonald’s estranged wife reported him missing the following morning, West said.
MacDonald told his daughter he planned to go for a walk, and his car and wallet were later found at his Kenmore home, according to West.
Foul play is not suspected in his death, West said. MacDonald was identified through dental records, but his cause of death has not been determined, she said.

According to the National Missing Person Directory website, MacDonald was in the midst of a divorce, unemployed and deep in debt when he disappeared. He regularly took long walks, the website says.
Court records show MacDonald’s wife filed for divorce in January 2006.
Efforts to reach MacDonald’s family were not successful.
“It’s very sad. He’s been there the whole time,” said West, who noted that MacDonald’s remains were found about five blocks from his house.
The area where his skull and other bones were found by two students hiking Thursday is “very heavily wooded” and quite a ways off a nearby walking trail, she said.
