A 48-year-old Lake Goodwin man shot by two Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies earlier this month died yesterday at Harborview Medical Center.

Stuart Brown was shot after he was confronted by deputies near the Road House Tavern, 4915 Lakewood Road, on Dec. 12.

About 10:30 p.m. that night, the bartender of the Lake Goodwin tavern called 911 to report at fight had broken out between Brown and another bar patron. Two deputies approached Brown on a street about a block from the bar. The three exchanged gunfire, and Brown was struck, said Everett police Sgt. Boyd Bryant.

Brown was taken to Providence Everett Medical Center and later to Harborview Medical Center. He died at 8:10 a.m. yesterday, Bryant said.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office plans to perform an autopsy today.

Everett police are investigating the case because the man was shot by county deputies. The two deputies are back on patrol after spending some time on paid administrative leave following the shooting.
