There’s a new coach in town: The Center for Student Success, at the foot of Queen Anne Hill.

Open every day but Sunday, the center supplies free help to the college-bound. Its library is stocked with college guidebooks. Its computers house software that lets you assess your skills and locate colleges that offer your intended major. And if you seek advice on finding a good-fit school or locating financial aid, the center’s counselors are willing to help.

Manager Marla Skelley is the former director of financial aid at The Evergreen State College in Olympia. Dave Waddell was an employment adviser at the Art Institute of Seattle.

The center, funded by the Northwest Education Loan Association (www.nela.net), a nonprofit that administers education-loan programs and guarantees them against default, is at 190 Queen Anne Avenue N., Seattle, WA 98109. More info: 206-461-5366; www.centerforstudentsuccess.org
