Education award: Brigitte Tennis, founder and head teacher of Stella Schola Middle School in Redmond, has been selected as a national finalist for the 2005 Cable’s Leaders in Learning Award by Comcast and Cable in the Classroom. Tennis was chosen for innovative ways of educating students and for making a substantial contribution to learning in the community.


Hospitality award: Five students of Lake Washington Technical College Culinary Arts program in Kirkland recently won silver medals during the 2005 Washington Restaurant Association Education Foundation’s Hospitality Invitational. The students are: Sherston Sutton of North Bend, Christopher Smith of Kirkland, Jeremy Stultz of Monroe, Justin Sheilds of Duvall, and José Martinez of Renton.
