The swimming area at Newcastle Beach Park has been reopened.

The department of Public Health — Seattle & King County closed the area a week ago because of high bacteria levels in the water. Tests for the past several days indicated that bacteria counts are now at low-risk levels for public swimming. Juanita Beach Park in Kirkland remains closed, according to King County.

Newcastle Beach Park is at 4400 Lake Washington Blvd. S.E. For more information, visit http://dnr.metrokc.gov/wlr/waterres/swimbeach/default.aspx

Issaquah

Student info

to be online

Starting in the fall, parents and students in the Issaquah School District can go online to access information such as student academic progress, attendance and class schedules.

The district will use two online systems, called Basmati and Family Access. Students and families will be assigned passwords in the weeks leading up to the start of school and during curriculum nights.

Basmati gives middle- and high-school parents and students access to progress reports. Teachers will update academic information eight times a year for high-school students and six times a year for middle-school students.

Family Access will give families and students at all grade levels access to student information such as class schedules, attendance and immunization records. For more information, go to www.issaquah.wednet.edu
