Negotiators responded to talk the man down from the Highline Medical Center roof. The man was taken to Harborview for a mental-health evaluation, the sheriff’s office said.

King County sheriff’s deputies have taken a man into custody after he made his way onto the roof of Highline Medical Center in Burien on Thursday.

According to the sheriff’s office, the man was armed with a knife when he reached the roof late Friday morning. Sheriff’s negotiators responded and the man was taken into custody around 1 p.m.

The hospital was under lockdown during the incident.

The man has been taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for a mental-health evaluation, the sheriff’s office said.
